Character and Issues

Brec. I really liked your comments about character and the American people. You're right. Americans are pretty special in time of need. It appears that we've found some good subjects for our blogs, including the presidential political campaign. Why not? It is a great way to focus on character and the issues and that's what this campaign is going to be all about. Let's try to be fair and objective about our comments and try to stick to issues rather than being particularly partisan. Here's one. How do you feel about Sen. Joe Lieberman supporting John McCain? A lifelong Democrat (now an independent) supporting a conservative Republican. Would you say that this is an example of character - going with your beliefs and principles - over your party? I understand that this decision by Sen. Lieberman might cost him his chairmanships of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. Wouldn't you believe that he has those positions because of his knowledge and ability and experience? In my opinion, it's a shame to use party politics to make decisions like this. As Sen Lieberman said, he's not surprised that Democrats may seek to punish him. He said electing the right person to the White House is more important to him than partisan politics. You are seeing a great example of character as well as issues being important in this election. Chime in Little Rox.
