Corruption in Federal Agency

Coal, nice comments re character in government. The two presidential candidates keep talking about change in Washington. One (Obama) is focusing on changing policies; the other (McCain) is focusing on changing the character of Washington. At this point, I'm not sure which is more important, but when I read stories like government officials handling billions of dollars in oil royalties and that they accepted gifts, sex and other things with employees of energy companies, it seems to me that the character of Washington might be the more important of the two. Seems like former and current Interior Department employees really abused their positions and it cost the tax payers two years and $5.3 million dollars by the Inspector General just to find out what was going on. And it probably has cost the country hundreds of millions of dollars. Obviously, this leads me to wonder if this is only the tip of the iceberg as relates to the Washington bureaucracy and whether we should have the Inspector General's budget increased with the goal of finding out really what is going on in Washington. I'd say change is definitely in order and the issue of character should be front and center. What do you guys think?
