Wow, what amazing blogs. Right to the heart of things. Your leadership is inspiring Granite, we do appreciate you. On a lighter note, I saw an article from Delaware that was very interesting, particularly on Father's Day. It was a about a coach and a father. As written by Angela M. Rapposelli, she said, "Back in his coaching days, my father was a bright yellow fireplug of a man...he unleashed his energy on the football field. He was passionate about coaching. And though he loved competition, his fervor was stoked less by victories, trophies and championships than by helping to mold a generation of young men That was four decades ago. Three years ago, those no-longer young men gathered to say a final goodbye to "Coach." 500 people showed up. Each week during the season, the football team attended church together - Catholic,
Methodist, Episcopal, Baptist, Jewish, Presbyterian, Lutheran. The lessons of those special services had little to do with Wing-T formations or defensive strategies. It was the formation of character that interested my father most. He understood that his work was not unlike that of an artist, sculpting young bodies with skills that would serve them well in life; dignity, respect, pride and reverence of a higher power. No wonder by Dad became a local legend. Nice story, huh?
