Nice blog Basalt. A karate school adding character to its training. Bravo. I happened to run across an article from the Visalia Times that mentioned a high school football team, the Golden West High School football program that dedicates itself to the growth of the student athlete in both the classroom and on the field. Character education is an integral part of the football program. "It is the desire of the coaches to build the next generation of leaders for the city," said Leslie Gardner, spokesperson from the Golden West Football Club. "I'm very proud of these young men for the upstanding way they "choose" to live their lives by doing "good" things, not wallowing in self pity like the ones who join gang and commit crimes." If we keep working at this, we will reach the 6.6 billion people on earth and we will make a difference. To me, it is great to see such an emphasis being place on character by teachers, instructors, mentors.
